The winds had halted, their very breaths held in anticipation, all eyes set at the Consiliur’s tower. The second princess would pick an aide tonight.
One of my friends did a character sketch of Peritia, including some of the weapons she uses.
Here’s another with her red eyes!
This is almost exactly how I see Peritia. Strong and Calm. With her arsenal of 119 weapons, I think it makes her quite a formidable opponent.
Kartik, Thank You so much for sketching her!
On to the story!
The darkness was sweeping towards the capital, threatening to engulf the entire land of Celaver.
Taking one look at it, the entire focus turned to the man in the centre of the room.
“We can provide cover, she must run.”
The soft declaration was followed by a shocked silence and Arderine slowly slumped to the ground.
Almost desperately, she reached out and caught hold of the blanket draped on the bed and in a hoarse voice, she asked out
“How do you know?”
The silence in the hall was heavy with thought, both Arderine and Nick had seated themselves, staring at the map with unseeing eyes, each lost in their thoughts.
Peritia traced the hills with her good hand, the other in a plaster. The cut had been deep, almost to the bone.
Leaving the two staring at the map, she settled down next to Aurora, who looked as confused as the first day she had met her.
“Do you remember the hills of Ammolofoi? “,she asked the quiet girl.
“Sand, that’s all I can remember”, came the quivering reply.

Aurora breathed out slowly, her eyes looking around the room curiously.
“We could have used the training room, it has more equipment”
Aurora felt the smirk on his face as if it radiated towards her.
“The equipment I need is in this room, Quesios and I worked on this together”
This put her on high alert instantly. If both Nick and Quesios had designed a room for her training, it was bound to have numerous layers of obstacles. She looked at the man who had been circling her like a vulture, keeping his distance.

The clatter of falling vessels was loud as the maids crashed into the walls, making way for the queen to run past them. The din had finally stopped when the library doors swung open and the panting queen’s shadow fell upon the man sitting at the desk in the centre, surrounded by shelves of books.
She watched him stand up and bow slightly, awaiting her words.
“Why did you allow him to leave?”

For some reason that I have no idea about, when I posted my last chapter, the last few extremely important lines did not get posted, so I’m going to add those lines in bold right below this line
Aurora woke up after a short nap feeling less sore than she had been before. Conjuring the sword really took a lot out of her, she supposed. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to visit Peritia again, just to ask her if the lessons would be changing tomorrow. She imagined they would.
Putting on her simple clothes, she wondered if Nick had enough confidence in her abilities or simply thought she was expendable. She’d really have to visit him today.
Just as she opened her door, a flurry of long limbs seemed to dart by. A little taken aback, she peered out to see Quesios hurrying down the hallway and she followed him just in time to watch him freeze at the sight of Nick coming out of the Library with a few texts in hand.

On the screen, in various sizes, over and over again was the number 24.
“I think we have our answer”, said Aurora shakily
Fate smiled as she watched the entire scene play out in front of her. Turning to the near comatose girl lying on a bed beside her, she whispered,
The five of them worked in relative silence in the dungeon as the man remained unconscious. Quesios and Maya were working on some sort of simulation to determine the effect on the body and mind during the second Immersion. Aurora was attempting to find any more anomalies in his chart by comparing it with hers.
